Exhibition
at Clive House, Fort St. George
A
few enthusiasts and collectors will display their collections
pertaining to Madras at the historical Clive Hall (1st floor of the
Clive House), near St. Mary's Church inside
Fort St. George on the occasion of Madras Day 2006.
The exhibits include old Madras Presidency coins, Postal place
cancellations connected to Madras city story, maps, pictures, books,
etc., only on Madras. The display also includes British India
currency notes, colour photocopies of various old currency notes
issued in Madras Circle, Bank of Madras, Asiatic Bank with related
stories.'
Apart
from the display, the Army and Archaeological Survey of India,
Chennai Circle functioning inside the Fort St. George will be
showing their collections of the photographs of the various
buildings inside the fort. People who want Army Postal Covers
brought out during various commemorative occasions of various
Regiments will be able to buy them from the Army Postal Service,
opposite the Clive House building.
The exhibition will be on for three days - August 21, 22 and 23
from 10.30 am to 5.30 pm
All exhibits will certainly be a treat to eyes and minds.
This exhibition is organised by D. H. Rao (Cell no. 98408
70172) and S. B. Raja Seetharaman (Cell no. 98400 37001),
philatelists and numismatists in association with Archaeological Survey of India -
Chennai Circle.
M. V. N. Sharma, Hemant Chopra,
K. T. Kapil and Dwarakanath Reddy are the exhibitors who will be
showcasing their exclusive collections apart from the organisers.
Schools are invited to send busloads of children to this show.
If schools plan to visit this show, then the management can plan
a tour of the fort and of the museum besides checking out this exhibition.
