August 15 - Saturday: At 4 pm
Chennai-based bands are coming together for the second edition of Freedom Jam - Free Music Festival in Chennai and are dedicating this to the city. The music will be of different styles/genres.
On Saturday 15th August @ Spaces, Elliots Beach (north end) from 4 to 10pm

August 16 - Sunday @ Musee Musicals, Mount Road from 5pm to 10pm, @ Bunkers, Hotel DC Manor, T Nagar from 4pm to 10pm and @ Zara, Cathedral Road. from 8 to 10pm. Entry is free at Spaces and Musee Musicals.

August 19 - Wednesday: At 7 pm
At The Madras Terrace House, 15 Sripiram II Street, Royapettah
Tamil Nostalgia, all-time favourite songs from old Tamil Cinema, performed live by Vedant Bharadwaj and Bindu Malini.

August 21 - Friday: At 7 pm
At Taj Coromandel.
Music performance featuring songs from the city by Vedant Bharadwaj.

August 16 - Sunday: At 9 am
1. At Tag Centre - Admission restricted to the invitees of the South India Heritage Series and their guests.
People’s Park Vazhi Nadai Chindu – A dance performance based on the poem of the same name published in 1915 describing the sights and scenes of Madras city as seen by a young couple as they walk from George Town to Mylapore to participate in the Arupathumoovar festival.

2. At Hamsadhwani Sabha auditorium, Youth Hostel, Indira Nagar, Adyar. At 6 pm.
Theatre actor of Kalanilayam Troupe will present a dramatised reading from 'Chennaikku Vandhen'.
This book is a collection of pieces written by well known writers like U Ve Swaminathaiyer and Pudumaipithan of their experiences in Madras in the 50s and 60s. This is a Kalachuvadu publication. Admission free.

August 18 - Tuesday : At 7.30 pm.
At Shastri Hall, Mylapore
Theatre actor of Kalanilayam Troupe will present a dramatised reading from 'Chennaikku Vandhen'. Admission free.

August 19 - Wednesday: At 6 pm
At Gallery Sri Parvati, 28/160 Eldams Road.
Singara Chennai, a Tamil skit on Madras of the past and present by Kalaimamani P.R. Durai and friends.

August 20 - Wednesday: At 6 pm
1. At Gallery Sri Parvati, 28/160 Eldams Road.
A programme organised by Lakshmi Venkatraman on art and music, with artists Geetha and C. Krishnaswamy, and musicians Mohan Santhanam and Bombay Anand.

2. At The Madras Terrace House, 15 Sripiram II Street, Royapettah
Theatre Performance - 'Dustily Yours, Chennai 600001'. At 7 pm. By Pritam Chakravarthy. Solo theatre. Audience are requested to come dressed in white.

August 22 - Saturday: At 5 to 6.30 pm
1. At Hotel Green Park, Vadapalani.
Students of Dr. MGR Janaki School for Speech and Hearing Impaired and Dr. MGR Janaki College for Women will present folk dances of Tamil Nadu.
At 6.45pm, Oxygen, a music group, will perform the ‘Chennai Anthem’ in honour of a youngster who composed the music for a song about Madras.

2. At Alliance Francaise, Nungambakkam. From 10 am.
Madras Day plays, skits on Chennai and concert 10 am to 10 pm. Plays and skits on Chennai organised by Exodus and Theatre Group. Daylong collection of plays, skits, mono acts and poetry, readings on Madras followed by a concert.
