Tamil Poetry-writing competition

Organised by INTACH. For school students of classes 6 and above. Poem in Tamil on any aspect of Madras heritage. Poem signed by the student and duly certified by the head of the institution should reach Chennai INTACH office before August 16.

Heritage Walk for school students

Organised  by INTACH, Chennai in collaboration with Fox TV.
In Fort St. George for groups of school students (Class 6 and above).

Schools will have to make their own arrangements to bring the students to Fort St. George and take them back after the walk.

Photowalk for children

Select photos will be printed and displayed as an exhibition at various venues during the Madras Week (From Aug. 15 to 22)
* Parents  and adult photo enthusiasts are also welcome to join the walk. (The exhibition is of photos by children only!).

Madras Kathai Contest

Last date for submission of entries – August 7, 2010

Organised by YOCee and Prodigy Books.
Open to students of class 6 to 10.
The contest encourages the students to listen to the stories of Madras from their grandparents and senior neighbours and write it in the form provided to them.
Prizes for the best TWENTY entries. Rs. 500 worth of books from Prodigy Books.
Shortlisted entries will be compiled as a booklet.

The Madras Quiz – Tamil

(For students studying in Tamil medium schools)

The annual Madras Quiz in Tamil is held exclusively for students studying in Tamil medium schools in Chennai.
Students from class 7 and above are eligible to participate in teams of two students. Each school can send three teams.

On Saturday, August 21, 2010. At 2 pm

At Lady Sivaswamy School Hall, Sundareswarar Street, Mylapore, Chennai – 4.

Written prelims followed by six teams on stage for the finals.

Prizes:

  • Rolling trophy for the winners
  • Prizes for two runner-up teams.
