Workshop: Urban sketching workshop – Aug. 4, 2018

Organised by the School of Architecture and Planning (Anna University) Alumni Association (SAPAA).
MENTORS FOR WORKSHOP

SAP Alumni mentors will be architects Balaji Venugopal, Kavitha Prasad, Vennila T, Devakumar P, Cibi Balakrishnan and Yuva Raj

From 8 a.m. to 10.30 a.m.
WORKSHOP STRUCTURE: Each Architect will have a group of five students to mentor for the sketch walk. They will add their insights and comments once the group finishes sketching.

ENGAGING WITH COMMUNITY: Sketches will be displayed around prominent places around Mylapore and at SAP.

Register by July 25, 2018. Fee Rs. 100.

Pictorial Exhibition on Military History – Aug.28-29, 2018

Venue: Stella Maris College (Auditorium), 17 Cathedral Road, Teynampet.

Held under the auspices of Stella Maris College, the exhibition will feature images and write-ups on the history of the Indian Armed forces, besides video shows and power point presentations on the topic. The event is open to public with prior intimation to the college authorities.

Military History Quiz for College Students – Aug. 26, 2018

The quiz, covering the history of all 3 branches of the Indian Armed Forces from their colonial origins to the present-day engagements. Attractive cash prizes to the winning team and at least 5 other teams that top the contest.

Re-enactment of Battle of Colachel – Aug. 12, 2018

The re-enactment, being staged by NCC Cadets attired in period costumes, is that of the Battle of Colachel (10 August 1741) between a Dutch East India Company force and the Travancore Army resulting in the Dutch being trounced, the first and only instance of a native Indian force decisively defeating a European one.

Anglo Indian Crafts & Cuisine Fair – Aug. 25, 2018

Hosted by the Forum of Anglo Indian Women, Chennai. To celebrate the AI spirit of Chennai.

Showcases the many crafts designed for homes and orders by AI families of Madras in the past, and the mouth-watering food the families cooked at homes in Royapuram, Vepery and Perambur.

The Fair will offer sales of craftworks and products of current AI entrepreneurs and have food stalls. Music too. Under tents. In a heritage campus opp. Pachaiyappa’s College.
