Madras380 – A Special PhotoWalk : A Forest in the City – Aug. 4, 2019

The Chennai Photowalks team is organizing a photowalk to go around the IIT Campus and explore the unexplored.

IIT Madras is one of the most prestigious educational institutions in India. The best part is its lush green campus spread across over 600 acres in the heart of the Chennai city.

A significant part of the campus is a protected forest (carved out of the Guindy National Park). The campus is home to large numbers Chital (spotted deer), Blackbuck, Monkeys, and other rare wildlife. Further one can sight birds (Indian Pittas, Ground Thrushes and Painted Storks) that are nested around the tree-populated lake and amazing colourful butterflies all across the campus. The Campus also has a natural lake, deepened in 1988 and 2003, draining most of its rainwater.
