Short Films on the City

The following films have been highly recommended by the judge Venkatesh Chakravarthy, Film Educator and Film maker.
These films films will be screened at the Russian Cultural Centre, Kasturi Ranga Road, Alwarpet, Chennai - 18 at 6. 10 pm from Aug. 30, just before screening of the Russian film festival films:

As part of The Madras Day celebrations, the organisers plan to host a screening of short films /documentaries on this city.

Students of cinema, media, visual communication, fine arts and literature and those who study in film institutes and those who are passionate about films, can contribute their films to this fest.

Film makers and film students are invited to produce such films on any aspect of the city - its people, communities, landmarks, life-trends, oddities, etc.

Film makers/students who need resource persons/mentors who are specialists in city-based subjects may be provided for guidance by the organisers.

Films can be either in Tamil or in English.

Duration: 5 to 7 minutes. They must be documentaries with authentic voices and persons; to be submitted on DVD formats, must include relevant credit titles of not more than 1 minute in duration; must have original music tracks; voice-overs may be either in Tamil or English; sub-titling may be done where necessary.

The shooting of the film can be done using any type of camera, but the final copy of the film should be submitted in DVD format.

The films should be submitted to the Madras Day co-ordinators before August 17.
Select films will be screened in the city at one/different venues.

A jury will select the most interesting films and these film makers will be given prizes and certificates.
