Chennaiyin Gnanaratham – a danceversation: Tribute to Mahakavi Subramania Bharathi – Aug. 23, 2015

“Chennaiyin Gnanaratham” – a danceversation, is a tribute to arguably the greatest genius who lived in the city of Chennai – MahaKavi Subramania Bharathi. It is a combination of folk dance performance and conversation on Bharathiyar’s days in Chennai. Some of the inspiring songs of Bharathi have been specially choreographed using ‘Devarattam’ movements. The dance will be performed by the “’The Folk Repertory’”, a group of amateur artists with passion for folk arts of Southern Tamil Nadu. The narrative delivered in a conversational style, similar to theatre, will include events and places associated with the MahaKavi’s life in Chennai.

Venue: Luz House, 176, Luz Church Road, Luz, Mylapore, Chennai, Tamil Nadu 600004, India.
Date: 23rd Aug 2015 Sunday 8PM. Open to all.
