The Chennai Bloggers Club is organising a Heritage walk at Tiruvottiyur.

Walk starts at 8 a.m and go on for an hour. The meeting point will be Theradi bus stop, Tiruvottiyur. This walk will cover Thiruvottiyur Thyagaraja and VadivudaiAmmanTemple and the four Mada Veethi’s around the temple.

The Banyan has been a part of Chennai’s history since 1993, when the founders Vandana and Vaishnavi saw a homeless woman with a mental health issue on Haddows Road who was in need of help. A movement started to reach out to vulnerable people with mental health issues.
The Banyan Walk will take you on a journey of adversity and recovery, starting at the Transit Care Centre in Mogappair, to the open shelter for homeless men in Santhome and ending at the Rural Mental Health Programme in Kovalam. You will hear stories of difficult lives, of dreams lost, but also of hope and new beginnings.

Chennai Runners will celebrate the spirit of the city they live and run in by putting together a special event on the morning of August 18th, Sunday at 6 AM at the Marina, as part of the Madras Week celebrations.
The group will organize a mini running tour of the historical landmarks of Chennai along the beach.
Watch out for their orange T-shirts on event day!
