Heritage tour of Mylapore – Aug. 25, 2012

Organised  by Namma Mylapore. Led by Dr. Chithra Madhavan. The tour by van will start at Luz Church at 7 a.m. and will end at Kapalishwara temple at approximately 9 a.m. The places covered will be Luz Church, San Thome Bascilica, two temples near Chitrakulam and  Kapalishwarar temple . Tour will end at Karpagam Mess (near Kapalishwarar temple) for coffee. The monuments will be explained from the outside only. The fee for the tour will be Rs.300/- per person.

Activity for children – Aug. 22, 2012

At Hotel Green Park, Vadapalani

5 p.m. to 6.15 p.m: Spring & Zoom, KK Nagar, an activity centre for children, welcomes children to learn to make envelope puppets and enact the story ‘Magic Vessel – Maaya Paathiram, a Tamil Nadu-based story. Resource person Nandini Sridhar is a storyteller and special education teacher. Open to children 5 years and above. Registration fee: Rs 50. Participants to bring light coloured envelopes that don’t tear easily (preferably the one used for courier with a layer of gauze inside), sketch pens, pencils, erasers, colour pencils and crayons. Madras Music Musings – Presentation by Anil Srinivasan and Biswajit Balasubramanian – Aug. 24, 2012

Forum Art Gallery in association with V.V Giri and The President Hotel presents a collaborative presentation of the Music of Madras through the ages by Anil Srinivasan and a humourous take on  music and musicians in cartoon art by Biswajit Balasubramanian.

A collection of paintings and sculpture from the gallery collection will also be on view.

Venue -The President Hotel, 25, Dr. Radhakrishnan Road, Chennai 600004
Tiffin – 6.30 pm to 7 pm. Performance 7 pm to 8 pm followed by cocktails and snacks by the poolside

102 years of the Royal Madras Yacht Club – How the harbour developed – Tour – Aug. 26, 2012

Tour by van, foot and boat, followed by breakfast. Guide: Sriram V. Starts at 6.30 a.m.
Charges: Rs 850 per head. Optional: Lunch at the RMYC and a speed boat journey in the sea at Rs 200 extra.
Bookings for this walk close on 19th August. Those interested must furnish copy of proof of identity along with payment.
