Madras through Ramesh Raja’s lens – August 20, 2017

Ramesh Raja is an ace street photographer and has taken some stunning pictures of Namma Madras street life. Check out some of his work here: https://500px.com/rameshsa He would take us on a virtual tour via his photos and share techniques, tips and his experiences capturing fleeting moments around the city.

Exhibition: The social history of Annanagar- Aug. 20 & 21, 2016

Organised by Annanagar Social History Group.

Part 1:
The social history of Annanagar – Naduvakkarai to Annanagar
Old photographs , maps,models ,sketches and documents explaining the history of Annanagar.There was a competition to make a social history album, and the entries will also be displayed.

Part 2 Heritage corner : Collection of rare books and details on madras and India as well . This time I am displaying , few old advertisements /paper clips about/on Madras (which will be a part of this year’s exhibition too).
The Aim to make people aware and appreciate their own locality. Then there will be a person to explain how to preserve your antiques and artefacts (be it paper ,brass ,silver, stone, paintings ,books etc) ,with the guidance and support of Dr. Jeyaraj conservator who inspired us for this idea.

The quiz ,drawings competitions will happen in the venue.

Exhibition: Madras Memorabilia – Aug. 9 to 11, 2016

At Ethiraj College for Women. 70, Ethiraj Salai, Egmore
From 9 a.m. to 2 p.m.
The exhibition will display replicas, posters, artefacts and antiquities from various organisations like Rail Museum of the Integrated Coach Factory, Government Museum Chennai, Port Trust, State Department of Archaeology, and Tamil Nadu State Archives and from Winston A Henry of W& H Book search.

Apart from this public participation, the students of the Department of History, Tourism and Travel Management have also prepared models of various monuments which will be displayed at the exhibition. Old photographs of Madras will also feature in the exhibition.
