Starts at the gate of Hotel Taj Connemara, Binny Road. Ends at Napier Bridge ( near Madras University)
Researcher-historian D. Hemchandra Rao who has been studying the bridges of this city for many years will lead the group to six old bridges, talk about their design and function and their role in city transport.
The tour covers Egmore, Chintadripet, Anna Salai and Chepauk.
7 a.m. onwards. Duration: 2 hours.
Tour is by van and on foot.
Fee: Rs.150 (Van fee – to be paid when the tour starts / no cancellation). Limited seats.

The walk is off East Dr. R K Salai, branching off towards Natesan Salai, Lloyd’s Road and Hamilton bridge.
The purpose of the walk is to provide insight into the Jewish, Baha’i, Sufi, Sindhi traditions that were/are followed in the city and the people associated with the faiths and their contribution to the city’s heritage.
Starts at 5.30 pm in front of Theerthapaleeswarar Temple and ends around 8.00 pm at Sufidhar Trust.
Free. Open to all.
Time 7.30 a.m. to 10 a.m.
A unique visit to some Parsi properties at Royapuram along with an overview of the Community’s history and heritage, led by community members. A sumptuous Parsi breakfast, courtesy Tehnaz and Darius Bahadurji, will bring forth the community’s love for good food and their generous hospitality. So as the Parsis would say, Jamvaa chaloji!

Most of us think of Srinivasa Ramanujan, the Indian Math genius, each year only on 22nd December, his birthday since the Government of India has declared this day as the National Mathematics Day. Let us break tradition on this Madras Day! Let us examine this mathematician’s extraordinary life and explore the role played by our city in it. We will also visit the Ramanujan Museum and Math Education Centre set up by Mr. P. K. Srinivasan, a Maths teacher and a great admirer of Ramanujan.
