Heritage Walk: People, Places, and Planning of Gandhi Nagar – Aug. 18, 2024

Gandhi Nagar has changed significantly over the past seven decades, from a region that was formerly open territory that was outside of the city’s boundaries to a sought-after residential neighbourhood. This is a locality that saw the likes of several stars from the city’s film and literary industry, some highly decorated civil servants, as well as several historic institutions and establishments.

Walk with us through Gandhi Nagar to discover stories of its illustrious residents, the iconic institutions that dot the area and the urban planning of this new-age neighbourhood. Join us on a walk south of the Adyar River, through the environs that saw the birth of a new neighbourhood post-Independence.
