Discussion: Madras in Cinema – Aug. 20, 2021

Aim: The Chennai Heritage Forum has been instrumental in engaging in dialogues that help open up new paths and understand different perspectives. This Madras Week, to celebrate something that is quintessentially Madras – cinema, a discussion on this subject is organised.  Tamizh cinema has proven to be an experience that captures the essence of the time it was shot. It signifies the space, lifestyle, and manner in which the city functioned back then. These are things that are constantly ever-evolving, and through this session, we hope to explore and understand what cinema and the frames of cinema that capture the city mean and convey to all of us

Furthermore, the event aims to discuss the personal experiences each of us has had in these spaces that are often captured in the movies and the difference one can observe when looking at those spaces in movies.
