To Madras, with Love!. Invite to Men & Women who have been in the city since 1960s

To mark Madras Day 2026, Mylapore Times plans to come out with a small book. Its contents have to be special and must come from People of Chennai who have benen living here since the 1950s/60s/70s.

We invite people to share their stories of the areas where they lived, studied and worked. In the 1950s / 60s.

We want them to write it all down in detail – names, places, dates/years, anecdotes. . . .about the nature of their residential area, be it Vepery, Triplicane, Vadapalani or Royapuram. Of their school/college days, of their markets and popular stores; the traffic and local entertainment, the fun weekends, the temple / church festivals of note. Write it all in about 400/500 words.

Once you send it to us, we will call you to improve on the article. And the best 20 will be published.

To get tips and guidance on what you must write and how, you may call Vincent at 9841049155 / Meera at 9790952129.

Submissions must be made by August 2. Selected submissions will be given a Madras souvenir.
